MOVING SOLUTIONS REMOVALS COMPANY
NATIONAL (UK) REMOVAL/RELOCATION GUIDE PRICES FOR PEOPLE MOVING LONGER DISTANCES

How much does it cost to use a removals company?

A number of factors will determine the cost of using a removals company. The amount of goods being transported is a key consideration, but the distance travelled, size of crew and speed of packing will also play a role in deciding the total cost.

A good removals firm will explain their charges and how you might be able to lower the cost. Many firms will offer a discount if you source your own packing materials and help with the packing, for example.

The prices below are just a guide and we will have to view your property to provide a confirmed and accurate quotation

So now you’ve got an idea of how much roughly it will cost to move, how can you find out the exact price? Well there are a few things to take into consideration when budgeting for a move.

  • Removals fees – as we’ve seen, these will depend on your location and house size, but should cost around an average of £1,200.

  • Conveyancing – again, this depends on the house you’re buying, but usually will cost around an average of £500 – £1,200.

  • Stamp Duty – this is worked out in tiers, with the first one of £125,000 to £250,000 costing you 2% of the house’s value (so £2,500 on a £125,000 house).

  • Surveys – we recommend that you invest in a survey to make sure that the property you are buying doesn’t have any serious defects which may cost you more down the line. These usually cost between £250 – £1,000.

  • If you’d prefer someone else to budget for you, Money Supermarket has come up with this fun and interactive ‘cost of moving calculator’, which takes into consideration all of the above costs as well as the specific features of your old and new home to make sure that the price is entirely tailored to you and your situation.
